The Junior League of Huntsville will award $32,000 in grants to nine local nonprofit organizations through its Community Assistance Grant Program on Saturday, April 9 during the 4th Annual Book Ball at the Huntsville Museum of Art.

The nine nonprofits include:

– Cap and Gown Project – $3,000
– Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater and Academy – $2,500
– Girls, Inc. of Huntsville – $2,000
– Huntsville Hospital Foundation, supporting BIRTHday Books – $5,500
– Huntsville-Madison County Public Library Foundation – $3,000
– Therapy Partners – $2,000
– UAH Foundation – $5,000
– Village of Promise – $3,000

“We are extremely proud to award these worthy organizations. We chose these nonprofits because they are fulfilling a need in our community tied directly to our League’s focus area of Literacy,” said Kristina Hendrix, League President. “For the past three years, Book Ball has been an evening of glitz and glamour, raising money to support our community projects. We decided to pair our Community Assistance Grant announcements with one of our signature events to allow our members and the community to share in the celebration.”

Each year the Junior League of Huntsville accepts Community Assistance Grant applications from Huntsville/Madison County nonprofits. Organizations are selected through a rigorous review process by the League’s board of directors. Over the League’s 73-year history, it has donated more than $2 million dollars back to our community through this program. The League continues to support these grants through the long-standing Apple Annie fundraiser and other fundraising efforts.
