The longtime partnership between the Junior League of Huntsville and the Huntsville Child Care Center, now operated by the YMCA, proves rewarding not only for the young students who attend the center, but also for the dedicated JLH members who insist on serving on this committee year after year. The C.A.M.P. committee visits monthly at the Huntsville Child Care Center—a unique center that provides a safe and positive learning environment for at-risk children of primarily low-income families—and brings enrichment activities designed to educate the children and inspire their creativity. No matter whether the activities are simple (carving a pumpkin for Halloween) or elaborate (an Olympics event complete with sports stations, torches, and a medal ceremony), the goal is the same: to create an enriching, memorable experience for these three- and four-year-olds. Many of our members have formed lasting bonds with the children, and they look forward to seeing the young faces light up when the red T-shirts of the JLH walk in the door each month.
